Lawyer advertising in the new phone book
The new phone book has arrived, and, as usual, it is chock full of lawyer advertising, especially by injury lawyers. My ad is on the back cover. I’ve come to believe that spot trumps the other spots. Although there is something really disgusting about all the injury lawyer ads, I can hardly complain. I’m the [...]

March Madness
This is the time of year when the best college basketball teams play to see who will be crowned the champion. Teams are selected by a committee which picks the top 65 college basketball teams in the country. And people in offices and on campuses establish brackets to do some good-natured betting. It has become [...]

Catch the latest? AIG still paying huge bonuses
American International Group, one of the world’s largest insurance companies, received a taxpayer bailout of more than $170 BILLION dollars. AIG is paying out millions upon millions in new executive bonuses, even though the company lost $61.7 billion for the fourth quarter of last year, the largest loss in its corporate history. Our government’s Treasury [...]

Get an insurance check-up
If you have an insurance agent make sure you get a yearly physical. It is important to go over all your coverages to make sure everything is in order. Don’t be afraid to shop around if you don’t like your quoted premiums. Insurance is pretty competitive these days, and there’s bound to be a company [...]

Jurors “wanted Charlie Donahue to win.”
I was recently reminded of a comment a juror in one of my cases a few years ago told me after the case was over: “We all wanted Charlie Donahue to win.” Of course, the real winner was my client, but the truth of the matter is that a lawyer and his credibility are inextricably [...]

New Hampshire lawmakers to vote on seat belt law
New Hampshire is the only state in the country that does not require adult drivers to wear seat belts. That might soon change. I always wear a seat belt when I’m in a vehicle — almost always any way. I think it’s a good safety measure, but I think it would be wrong to force [...]

Check your Uninsured Motorist insurance coverage today
It takes no great leap of faith to know that I am no fan of the insurance industry. I don’t like the way most of them do business. Progressive, or as I call it, “Regressive,” is at the bottom of the barrel. I’ve dealt with a few straight-shooters from that insurance company, but not many. [...]

More bailout $$$$ to large insurance company – enough is enough!
Today our government decided to give 30 BILLION more dollars to AIG Insurance. This is on top of the 150 Billion it already gave to this insurance company. Where will this money come from? Is anyone else fed-up with this craziness? Time for a 3rd party, or at least some politicians who actually get it? [...]

He had an immediately recognizable and trade mark radio voice. Paul Harvey News and Commentary always got to the heart of [...]

Depositions
I’m preparing to take a deposition tomorrow morning in Manchester, New Hampshire, at a large law firm. When I visit these places I’m always thankful I don’t have their over-head. No wonder they charge their clients so much. I’m a commission guy. I get paid a % of what I recover. It’s a win-win. Anyway, [...]
